Where are you starting?

01 / FIRST INSTALL

A fresh board or recovery

Use the Didget Set up Installer supplied by FidgetThings. Connect your Didget by USB and enter a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network in the installer.

Let the installer finish saving Wi-Fi. Then register using the QR on the device and tap INSTALL DIDGET on its screen.

02 / ACTIVATION

Your Didget is ready to register

Scan its activation QR, check the device ID, and enter your email. We’ll show a nine-digit PIN to type on that Didget.

Already have another Didget? Use the same email. Each device keeps its own registration record.

To register, scan the QR on your Didget. The registration form opens automatically from that link.

03 / KEEP IT CURRENT

An update for your Didget

Connect your Didget to Wi-Fi and choose Check for Update. It checks the official server for signed firmware.

Internet Update is PIN-free. Web Manager and nearby firmware updates still require an update PIN.

A LITTLE HELP AT THE TABLE

Good to know.

Setup, activation and updates, without the guesswork.

Do I need an account?

No. Registration only needs your email and the QR enrollment from your Didget. It does not create an account or reserve a username.

We won’t email you unless you choose to create an account later. If you choose to create an account, that is when you’ll choose a username and verify your email to link your registered Didgets. Some future off-device features may require an account.

Why can’t I register with just a device ID?

The activation QR also carries the information needed to generate a PIN for that Didget. Scan the QR currently shown on its activation screen. Typing the ID by itself is not enough.

Can I use one email for several Didgets?

Yes. Register each Didget with its own QR and the same email address. An email address is a contact detail, not an account or a permanent ownership lock.

What if my activation PIN is rejected?

Enter all nine digits, including leading zeroes. Check that the device ID on this page matches the Didget you are activating. After a factory wipe or activation reset, scan the current QR and register again; a previous PIN may no longer work.

What happens if I wipe or sell my Didget?

A full factory wipe clears activation and saved settings. The next person can scan the current activation QR and register with their own email. No release from the previous owner is required. Re-registering changes the current contact record; it does not remotely deactivate an already activated Didget.

The installer cannot connect, or Wi-Fi was not saved

Use a USB cable that supports data and close Serial Monitor or any other app using the COM port. If the installer cannot connect, hold BOOT, press and release RESET, then release BOOT and select the current COM port.

After flashing, if instructed, press RESET without holding BOOT. The COM port may change. Let the installer refresh it and retry Wi-Fi setup using its main button. Keep USB connected until Wi-Fi is saved. Use a 2.4 GHz network.

How do Internet Update and local uploads differ?

Internet Update checks the official Didget server and requires no update PIN. Web Manager and nearby firmware updates require your update PIN and a compatible official signed firmware package.

If a server check fails, confirm the Wi-Fi connection and try again. Being on the latest version is different from an “update page unavailable” error. For USB recovery, use the separate Didget Set up Installer.

Does Didget need to stay online?

Your phone needs Internet access to register. Entering the activation PIN on the Didget works offline. The setup firmware and Internet Update need Wi-Fi to download firmware; normal life-counter use does not require a continuous Internet connection.
